Tokyo
The Office of Science and Innovation (S&I office) at the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo, was established in 1966, initially as part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences – IVA. Since then, the home organization in Sweden of the S&I offices has changed on several occasions. Today the S&I offices are part of the Swedish Agency for Growth Policy Analysis – Growth Analysis.
The task of the office is to facilitate research and development cooperation and other exchanges of knowledge between Sweden and Japan and to monitor, analyse and report to Sweden on important trends in research, innovation and growth in Japan. Together with other Swedish S&I offices abroad we also provide coverage of other Asian regions.
Current programs cover the following areas:
- Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
- Life Sciences and Bio-industry
- Sustainable Development
- Overall Development of Japanese S&T Policy and Innovation System
